
Yainer Diaz Collects First Triple A Homer with Space Cowboys

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Yainer Diaz made his Triple A debut Wednesday with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Just a day later, he deposited the first home run of his Triple A career.
He hit a three-run home run in the first in a 4-3 Space Cowboys loss Thursday to the Tacoma Rainiers.
Diaz, who is ranked as the Houston Astros No. 14 prospect, per MLBPipeline, finished the night 3-for-4 with a pair of singles to go with the three-run blast.
Lewis Brinson went 3-for-4 with three doubles in the loss. Brinson matched Alex De Goti (5/30/2021, at Albuquerque) for the most doubles in a single game in franchise history.
JP France got the start for the Space Cowboys and struck out six batters through five scoreless innings. France has recorded a 2.75 ERA (6 ER/19.2 IP) through his last four outings. He ranks fifth in the Pacific Coast League with 73 strikeouts.
Tacoma scored four unanswered runs, including a solo home run from Miguel Perez and a go-ahead solo homer from Jared Kelenic in the ninth.
De Goti went 2-for-4 with a double and is tied with teammate Pedro León for the PCL lead with 17 doubles.
Jake Odorizzi is set to make the first appearance of an MLB Rehab Assignment with a start Friday against Tacoma at 7:05 p.m. at Constellation Field. Tacoma will start right-hander Riley O'Brien.
