
X'S SNAP FOUR GAME LOSING STREAK WITH 8-5 VICTORY ON TUESDAY

St. Paul, MN- The Sioux City Explorers snap their four game losing streak with the 8-5 victory over St. Paul on Tuesday night, improving their record to 31-32 on the season.
St. Paul recorded the first run of the contest in the first inning. Angelo Songco knocked in a run with an RBI single, giving the Saints the early lead.
The Explorers took the lead in the top of the fourth. X's catcher Ralph Henriquez smashed a two-run homer to tie and take the lead with a 2-1 score.
In the bottom of the fourth, St. Paul answered with three runs of their own. Sam Mau plated a run with a ground rule double to tie the game. Two more runs crossed on a RBI single by Brady Burzynski and an error by the centerfielder.
Sioux City's offense took fire in the fifth inning, scoring six runs on six hits. Michael Lang knocked in two with an RBI double, and later scored off a Tommy Mendonca base-hit. Ralph Henriquez continued his hot night at the plate with a two-run single, for their fifth run of the inning. The X's scored their final run on a wild pitch, giving them the 8-4 lead after five innings.
The Saints cut the lead down to three runs in the bottom half of the fifth. Tony Thomas led-off the inning with a double, and scored on an Angelo Songco RBI single to cut the lead down to 8-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, X's closer Connor Overton (s-9) pitched a scoreless inning to get the save and clinch the 8-5 victory for Sioux City.
Explorers left-hander James Walsh (2-2) had a no decision on the night, allowing four runs (three earned) in four innings pitched. X's reliever Rob Wort (3-3) received the victory, going three innings with on run allowed.
Saints starter Eric Veglahn (2-3) finished with a no decision, allowing two runs to score in four innings pitched. Left-hander Mike Strong (0-1) was charged with the loss, giving up six big runs in 0.1 innings.
