X's Re-Sign David Trahan

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that they have re-signed RHP David Trahan to a 2010 American Association contract. Trahan becomes the 1st player signed by manager Les Lancaster for the 2010 season. Trahan will assume a new role in 2010 with being marked as one of the projected starter's when the team open's training camp on May 1st, 2010.   The X's signed Trahan on June 3rd after he received his release from the Kansas City T-Bones of the Independent Northern League and he made an immediate impact serving as the set-up man for closer Brett Reid

Trahan, 28, posted a 6 - 5 record with a team leading 2.75 ERA while appearing in (35) games. In 59.0 innings of work, Trahan struck out 72 batters and allowed only 26 walks while holding opponents to a .235 batting average against. Due to his performance, David was signed by the New York Yankee's on September 2nd and reported to AA Trenton of the Eastern League to finish the 2009 season, but due to a sore hand he was unable to pitch and thus given his release a few weeks later.

"With adding Trahan back we have really bolstered our pitching staff as we look to build it for the upcoming season," comments manager Les Lancaster. "His ability and arm is something you do not come across everyday and myself and Bobby are excited about him potentially joining the starting rotation."

Trahan was selected in the 11th round of the 2004 draft by the Montreal Expo's and played (4) season's in the Expo's/National's organization while reaching as high as AA with the Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League in 2007. After being released by the Nationals Organization prior to the 2008 season, Trahan signed with the Kansas City T-Bones and played parts of two seasons with the T-Bones before being signed by the X's this past June. The 2010 season will mark David's 7th season in professional baseball and 2nd season as a member of the Sioux City Explorers.

Trahan was born in Galveston, TX and currently resides in Santa Fe, TX.
