
Xplosion Lose To Albany, 110-107

Despite Chaz McCrommon's 34 points, the Pittsburgh Xplosion fell to the Albany Patroons, 110-107, tonight at the Petersen Events Center.
Pittsburgh led, 88-81, with just under eight minutes to play when Albany head coach Vincent Askew called timeout. From that point until a Lincoln Glass free throw at 4:30, Albany scored 14 consecutive points. Although Albany led, 95-88, they became the second team in the fourth period to relinquish a seven point lead. The Xplosion tied the score at 96, but Nat Burton hit a pair of threes on consecutive possessions from the left baseline to open a 102-96 lead.
Pittsburgh pulled the score back to within two at 104-102 and 106-104, but the Patroons led, 108-104, when McCrommon hit a three. After two Chad Timberlake free throws, the Xplosion could not get a three point shot away as they inbounded with 2.5 seconds remaining.
The Xplosion led, 78-71, heading to the fourth when the Patroons scored the first six points of the fourth to pull to within one. McCrommon nailed a three from the right wing to preserve the Xplosion's lead.
The Patroons won the first quarter, 28-25. But the Xplosion made a comeback in the second led by McCrommon. The former Robert Morris Colonial scored 20 points in the first half on 9-of-11 shooting. A Darnell Miller lay-in at the second quarter buzzer gave Pittsburgh a 56-54 lead heading into intermission.
