
Explorers derail Miners, 126-108

CASCADE - The Great Falls Explorers, playing on the hardwood of nearby Cascade High in a non-conference contest, defeated the visiting East Kentucky Miners 126-108 Thursday night. Great Falls and East Kentucky exited the two-game series with a 1-1 split.
The Explorers had a dominating performance, winning three of four quarters and grabbing seven of the eight available points. Great Falls claimed the quarter points 6-1.
A resurgent team, Great Falls improved to 11-22 overall following the triumph. East Kentucky dropped to 20-20 after suffering the loss.
Six of the seven Great Falls players finished in double figures scoring.
Guard Pele Paelay led Great Falls with 27 points. Mike Peeples, a 6-7 swingman, added 26 points, five blocks, four assists and two steals for the Explorers.
Junior Burrough added 22 points for host Great Falls. Maurice Carter and Marlyn Bryant scored 15 points apiece for the Explorers. Jason Clark turned in a double-double effort of 14 points and 14 rebounds in the home team's triumph.
Boo Jackson, who scored a game-high 40 points on Wednesday in an East Kentucky win, led the Miners offensively with 25 points. Josh Pace added 24 points, Jason McLeish scored 20 and Mike Dean netted 15 for the Miners.
East Kentucky will be in Albany on Sunday, Feb. 17 for a game against a familiar American Conference foe. The Patroons will host the Miners in a conference matchup at 7:35 p.m.
