PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Pittsburgh Xplosion crushed the Ohio Aviators 170-97 to extend their ABA winning streak to five games. Guard Coleco Buie sparked the Xplosion with 35 points and 9 assists as the home team ignited for a season-high point total to boost their record to 10-7. Seven Xplosion players scored in double figures, with Janerio Spurlock chipping in 19 and former NBA player Myron Brown adding 18 points, including 12 from 3-point range. Issac Jefferson had a strong all-around game for the Xplosion, with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was decided in the first quarter, when the Xplosion surged to a 53-8 lead over the Aviators, who fell to 4-10 on the season. Shawn Hill led the Aviators with 31 points and 17 rebounds, and Ryan Ball scored 30. The Xplosion are aiming for a sixth consecutive win Sunday, Jan. 8 when they face the visiting Cleveland Rockers at Mellon Arena at 7 p.m. The Xplosion remain in second place in the ABA's Freddie Lewis Division as they shoot for a playoff berth in the 39-team league.
