TONIGHT'S MATCH-UP

Heredia: Allowed 0 R on 4 H over 6.0 IP in 6/26 ND @ DEL with 3 K and 2 BB (8-7 Power)

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia fell to the Lakewood BlueClaws in a 15 inning thriller at Appalachian Power Park on Monday Night 8-7. The Power raced out to a big lead with six runs in the second on RBI singles from Ashley Ponce, Reese McGuire, Edwin Espinal and Harold Ramirez. The BlueClaws, however, would chip away at the West Virginia lead, scoring once in the fifth, twice in the sixth and three times in seventh keyed by a pair of doubles off the bat of Willians Astudillo and a Zach Green two-run blast. Lakewood would tie the game in the ninth and send it to extras where it would extend to the longest game this season for West Virginia. The Power placed position player Adam Landecker on the hill in the 15th when Andrew Knapp homered to give Lakewood a win and a series split. Landecker was charged with the loss while Scott Harris earned the win.

BYE BYE MUDBUGS: West Virginia's lead over Hickory has been trimmed to two games at 49-47. The Power are 19-28 at L.P. Frans Stadium. West Virginia will return to Hickory with a three-game series at the end of July.

CLOSING IN: Harold Ramirez notched a single in the seventh on Sunday and extended his hitting streak to 22 consecutive games. The outfielder has raised his average from .269 to .301 during the streak. Ramirez is one hit shy of tying Asheville's Pat Valaika's South Atlantic League season-best hit streak at 22 games. The Power's franchise record is also 22 set by Starling Marte in 2009 from 7/09 to 8/09, hitting .319 over the stretch.

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE: Jeff Roy posted multi-hit performances in three of his first four games at Appalachian Power Park. The outfielder, who began the season in Bradenton, has four multi-hit games in six tries since joining West Virginia. Roy doubled and scored a run in Sunday's loss to extend his hit streak to four games.

OH SO CLOSE: The West Virginia Power have still yet to walk-off with a victory in the 2014 season. The Power threatened on multiple occassions in Monday's 15 inning loss to the Lakewood BlueClaws. The Power stranded three in scoring position in extra innings. The Power have watched seven walk-offs in 2014.

STREAK STOPPED: The Power had their season-best five-game winning streak cut down on Sunday afternoon with a 10-5 loss to Lakewood. The Power had not won at home since May 25 against the BlueClaws (7-1) when West Virginia won on Friday night. West Virginia posted their second straight win at home for the second time this season on Saturday.

BETTER TOGETHER: The Power currently have multiple double-digit hitting streaks alive in Harold Ramirez's 22-game band and Edwin Espinal's 11-game streak. Espinal extended his streak to 11 games with a two-hit performance on Monday night.

PROMO UPDATE- JULY 3: The West Virginia Power will wrap up the homestand on Thursday, July 3, at Appalachian Power Park with a special 6:05 first pitch. Post-game will feature Independence Day themed fireworks as well as a concert by Red Wanting Blue.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is 12-19 in one-run games this season. No other club in the league has played as many one-run games as West Virginia has this year... Pittsburgh placed Wyatt Mathisen on the Disabled List prior to Saturday's game with a leg injury. The third baseman is batting .263 over 74 games with three home runs and 24 RBIs. JaCoby Jones was activated from the Power Disabled List prior to Saturday's game. Jones was placed on the DL retroactive to June 21 with a left knee injury.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh was idle on Monday after a win over the New York Mets. The Pirates take on Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at PNC Park with Jeff Locke taking the hill... Indianapolis was toppled by Louisville 9-1... Altoona was edged by Bowie 7-6. Willy Garcia blased two home runs in the Curve defeat... Bradenton was downed by St. Lucie 5-2. Tyler Glasnow tossed 2.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts in the start... Jamestown was idle. The Jammers host the Williamsport Crosscutters tonight.
