PREVIEW: The Shorebirds stole a series split in Hagerstown with a 9-5 victory on Monday eve- ning. Delmarva jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on come away with a road split against the team with the best record in the South Atlantic League. Now Delmarva heads to Kannapolis, North Carolina to continue their week-long roadtrip.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Andre Wheeler makes the start in the opener for Kannapolis. Wheeler has split time as a starter and reliever, going 0-2 with a 3.57 ERA for the Intimidators. The left-hander has a spectacular strikeout rate with 62 Ks in 53 innings. In his only start against Delmarva, Wheeler took a no-decision on May 16th in game two of a doubleheader, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in five innings.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles won 7-1 to take their series opener with the Texas Rang- ers. Steve Pearce hit two home runs, while J.J. Hardy and Adam Jones also went yard. Ubaldo Jimenez pitched well, surrendering just one unearned run. With Toronto idle, the O's gained a 1/2 game, moving to just 1 back of the Blue Jays in the AL East.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

WHO'S HOT/WHO ELSE

DREW DOSCH | 3B

The Shorebirds' All-Star third baseman has start- ed the second half well. In back-to-back games, Dosch has delivered a 9th inning RBI base hit for a key insurance run. Dosch is currently batting .319, 8th in the South Atlantic League. Dosch is currently 2nd in the league with 97 hits, behind Wilmer Difo (106, HAG). Dosch also leads the team with 31 walks.

WHO'S HOT - JEFF KEMP

The Shorebirds second baseman had a huge night last Tuesday, going 5-for-7 with a home run and two doubles. The five hits were the most by a Shorebird in a single game this season.

WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO

Since the All-Star Break, Chance Sisco has been otherworldly. The Shorebirds catcher is batting .452 (19-for-52) in 11 games in the second half. Sisco is now 2nd in the SAL with a .338 batting average.
