TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

LH Colin Rodgers (3-1, 2.30) vs. RH Clay Holmes (1-3, 6.10)

Rodgers: Allowed 0 R on 6 H over 6.0 IP with 6 K and 1 BB in 5/11-1 Win vs. WVP (2-0 Legends)

Holmes: Allowed 3 R on 6 H over 4.0 IP with 2 K and 3 BB in 5/08-1 ND vs. GRV (7-3 Power)

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia and Lexington were postponed due to unplayable grounds Thursday night. The two clubs will meet for a single nine inning game tonight and will play two on Saturday starting at 5:05 pm. The Power are coming off an 8-7 loss in 10 innings during Wednesday's series finale at Hickory. The Power took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning three hits, a walk, and an error. The Crawdads plated two in the second and hit solo home runs in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh to build a 6-3 edge. In the ninth, West Virginia tied the game with three runs, including one on a single by Ashley Ponce to bring home Jon Schwind to level the score. After the Power took a 7-6 lead in the 10th on a sac fly by D. J. Crumlich, Hickory scored twice in the bottom of the tenth for the win. Tom Harlan took the loss and Kyle Haynes was charged with a blown save.

TWINBILL TIME TOMORROW: Saturday's doubleheader will be the third this month for the Power. The swept two from Greenville on May 8 and split last Saturday at Lexington.

LONG TIME NO SEE: The Power have played the Legends more than any other club since 2005, going 81-77 over 158 games. Neither team has a winning record at home in this series with West Virginia going 45-38 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends hold a 39-36 edge at Appalachian Power Park, where the series resumes this evening. West Virginia and Lexington split a four game series last weekend at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

ACTIVATED: Clay Holmes was activated from West Virginia's Disabled List on Friday and will make his eighth start of the season tonight. Pittsburgh placed the right-hander on the DL on Monday, but made the move retroactive to May 9 so Holmes did not miss a turn in the revamped rotation after a spate of doubleheaders. The Dothan, Alabama-native did not pitch against Lexington during the recent four game series.

SMITH TO JAMMERS: To make room on the active roster for Clay Holmes return form the Disabled List today, Pittsburgh transferred left-handed reliever Josh Smith to the Jamestown roster. Smith has appeared in 12 games for West Virginia this season, going 1-1 with a 7.71 earned run average.

TIME FOR 20: West Virginia is now 19-20 after the series with Hickory. The current club has the chance to the be the second fastest club to reach 20 wins in a season since West Virginia's affiliation with the Pirates began. The 2012 edition of the Power did not win their 20th game of the season until June 9 in their 62nd game of the season. The 2011 club was 20-19 on May 19 after 39 games while the 2010 version was 20-22on May 22. The inaugural club did not win their 20th game until game 52 on June 2, 2009 (game 52). The Power will play their 40th game tonight.

STREAKING: Dilson Herrera has hit safely in six consecutive game and has multiple hits in each of the last four games during the streak. The infielder is batting .478 over his last six games with two home runs and five runs batted in. This is Herrera's second longest hitting streak this season. He had a seven-game run from April 10-17.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 18: The Power will host their annual WVU night on May 18 against Lexington. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Geno Smith bobblehead. All fans will have the chance to meet and greet Kevin Jones, Truck Bryant, and Da'Sean Butler. WVU Night is present by the WV Army National Guard.

POWER POINTS: Josh Bell extended his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games on Wednesday afternoon. It is the second longest on the club this season behind Max Moroff's 19-game streak in April... Walker Gourley has a five-game hitting streak entering play tonight... The Power led all minor league clubs with 50 errors over 26 games during the month of April. West Virginia has committed 10 errors in 14 games, fewest of any SAL team so far in May.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh bested Milwaukee 7-1. The Pirates collected 13 hits in en route to their third straight victory... Indianapolis fell 6-4 to Buffalo... Altoona lost 6-2 to Trenton... Bradenton was doubled up 6-3 by Clearwater. Gregory Polanco hit his fifth home run this year in the loss.
