Wranglers Split Series with Thunder, Fall 5-4

Las Vegas - Tying the game three times, but unable to capitalize, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 5-4 to the Stockton Thunder tonight, splitting the weekend series after a 3-2 overtime win last night.

Just 90 seconds into the first, Thunder right wing Tony Rajala scored his first goal of the season to give Stockton the 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, at the 2:40 mark, Thunder center Harrison Reed tacked on another goal for a 2-0 Stockton advantage. Las Vegas was able to salvage the period in the last few minutes as a goal from Wranglers left wing Josh Lunden cut the Thunder lead in half, 2-1.

The two teams traded goals again in the second, with Las Vegas tying the game 2-2 on a goal from Wranglers center Judd Blackwater midway through the period. Las Vegas held the tie for 36 seconds until Thunder center Phil Mangan regained Stockton's one-goal lead, but a power play goal from Wranglers left wing Adam Hughesman minutes later knotted the game 3-3 at the end of the second.

Once again taking the one-goal lead, Thunder left wing Matt Bergland recorded a goal midway through regulation to put Stockton up 4-3. Twenty-six seconds later, Wranglers defenseman Charlie Cook tied the game for a 4-4 score with eight minutes left in regulation. However, in the final 15.3 seconds, Thunder defenseman Cameron Brodie notched the game-winning goal to give Stockton the 5-4 win over the Wranglers.

The Wranglers take on the Bakersfield Condors in California on Friday, Oct. 26, and return home to face the Colorado Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 27. The team will also host a Halloween "Treat or Treat" for families on Saturday, and kids under 12 in costume will get into the game for free that night. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
