Wranglers' Dan Spang is second among defensemen in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with 11 points (4g-7a).
Las Vegas' Glenn Fisher is 5-1 with a goals-against average of 1.68 at home in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Stockton's Ryan Huddy is tied for the rookie lead in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with 14 points (5g-9a).
Around the ECHL - Playoff Update
Nikita Kashirsky scored with 35.5 seconds left in regulation as the South Carolina Stingrays rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat Florida, 4-3, in Game 5 of their South Division series before a crowd of 2,195 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday. The Stingrays grabbed a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series and can eliminate the Brabham Cup winners with a victory Tuesday night in Game 6 in Estero, FL at 7:30 EDT.
Josh Soares scored the tie-breaking goal with 2:35 left to send Alaska to its fourth conference final in five years with a 6-4 triumph at Victoria in front of 2,471 Saturday at the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre. The Aces claimed the series, four games to one, and now await the winner of the Stockton-Las Vegas battle in the Pacific Division Finals.
Goalie Ryan Nie stopped 24 shots in collecting his first playoff shutout as a Cyclone, in a 2-0 win at Elmira on Friday night. The Cyclones got goals from Dustin Sproat and Kyle Rank to secure the four-game sweep for the North Division playoff title. Cincinnati also claimed the North Division regular season title as well. It is the second straight year that the club has won both honors. Cincinnati will play either Florida or South Carolina for the American Conference championship next week.
Game 5 Recap
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (7-5) defeated the Stockton Thunder (6-6) 4-2 in Game 5 of the Pacific Division Finals in front of 5,389 fans at the Orleans Arena on Monday night. Las Vegas now leads the best of seven series 3-2 and can advance to the National Conference Finals with a win on Tuesday night at home. Wranglers' defenseman Dan Spang tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Forwards J.D. Watt and Adam Miller also scored for Las Vegas. Las Vegas improved to 5-1 this postseason at the Orleans Arena. Las Vegas goalie Glenn Fisher made 36 saves improving to 5-1 in the playoffs. Stockton forward Damian Surma tallied both Thunder goals in the loss. Thunder goalie Parker Van Buskirk stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss.
