
Wranglers Beat Thunder 4-2, Take 3-2 Series Lead

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (7-5) defeated the Stockton Thunder (6-6) 4-2 in Game 5 of the Pacific Division Finals in front of 5,389 fans at the Orleans Arena on Monday night. Las Vegas now leads the best of seven series 3-2 and can advance to the National Conference Finals with a win on Tuesday night at home. Wranglers' defenseman Dan Spang tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Forwards J.D. Watt and Adam Miller also scored for Las Vegas. Forward Kelly Czuy added two assists as Las Vegas improves to 5-1 this postseason at the Orleans Arena. Las Vegas goalie Glenn Fisher made 36 saves improving to 5-1 in the playoffs. Stockton forward Damian Surma tallied both Thunder goals in the loss. Thunder goalie Parker Van Buskirk stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss. Las Vegas will host Game 6 at the Orleans Arena at 7:30 PM on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first period, Las Vegas forward J.D. Watt tallied at 6:37 of the second period. Forward Mike Hamilton slipped the puck to Watt for his third goal of the playoffs and a 1-0 Wranglers lead. Las Vegas padded the lead to 2-0 with a shorthanded goal from forward Adam Miller. Wranglers Kelly Czuy and Dan Spang set up Miller's fourth goal of the playoffs at 9:42 of the middle period. Stockton cut the lead in half at 13:13 with a goal from forward Damian Surma, who tallied his second goal of the playoffs to cut the score to 2-1. Las Vegas increased the lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal from Spang. Dan Riedel and Czuy set up Spang's fourth goal of the playoffs at 15:28 of the second period. The Thunder answered back as Surma tallied his second goal of the period at 16:52. Stockton defenseman Kenny MacAulay set up Surma, cutting the score to 3-2.
In the third period, Wranglers forward Scott McCulloch notched an empty-net goal with 30 seconds remaining to seal the game at 4-2.
The Wranglers will host Game 6 Tuesday, May 5th at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena. If needed, Game 7 would be on Wednesday, May 6th at 7:30 PM.
