
Wranglers head to Calgary Flames rookie camp

Las Vegas, NV â The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today former goalie Brent Krahn and defenseman Deryk Engelland will participate in the Calgary Flames rookie camp starting Saturday, September 11th in Calgary, AB. Wranglers Head Coach/ General Manager Glen Gulutzan will also be attending the camp for scouting purposes.
"The rookie camp is a chance for Calgary to take an in-depth look at their draft picks and their young free agents to see how they are progressing," said Wranglers Head Coach / General Manager Glen Gulutzan. "These players know they are battling for some of the top spots in the Flames organization."
"I'm here to take a look at what kind of players we will probably see in Las Vegas. There are up to seven different Flames prospects that could be suiting up for the Wranglers this coming season and it doesn't hurt to get an early preview."
Krahn was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year old played 14 games in Las Vegas last season posting a 7-5-2 record. Krahn gave up an average of 2.61 goals per game and posted a save percentage of .925 for the Wranglers. Krahn split 21 games in the AHL between San Antonio and Lowell. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound goalie went a combined 5-10-1 with a goals against average of 3.17 and a save percentage of .898.
Engelland suited up in 35 games for the Wranglers posting two goals and 11 assists for 13 points, to go along with 63 penalty minutes. The Edmonton, AB native also spent 27 games with Lowell racking up 34 penalty minutes and a plus one rating. Engelland was signed as a free agent by the Flames last summer. The 22-year old was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 6th round (#194 overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
The Wranglers total roster of signed players for the 2004-05 season is nine. The Wranglers have goalie Marc Magliarditi, defensemen Jason McBain, Mike McBain, Troy Smith, and Jon Krall signed. Forwards Jeff Attard, Doug Wright, Dan Tudin and Chris Stanley are under contract for the 2004-05 season.
Fans may purchase seats to the Wranglers Opening Night on November 2nd as well as all other 35 regular season home games at any of the following ticket locations; The Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast and Suncoast, or at the Boulevard, Galleria or Meadows Malls guest relations/ticket centers. The Wranglers will give their fans a sneak preview when they host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for two preseason games on October 15th and 16th at 7:05 pm.
Opening Night for the Las Vegas Wranglers 2004-05 season is Tuesday, November 2nd against the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:05 pm. The regular season concludes Saturday, April 9th against the Alaska Aces. The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
