Wranglers Advance to Western Conference Finals on 2-1 Overtime Win

Boise, Idaho - With a 2-1 overtime win over the Idaho Steelheads tonight, the Las Vegas Wranglers took the best-of-seven Western Conference Semifinals series 4-1 and will now move on to the Western Conference Finals in the team's run for the 2012 Kelly Cup.

Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon and Steelheads goaltender Jerry Kuhn held the first period scoreless, with Las Vegas outshooting Idaho 13-10. Midway through the second, Steelheads forward Ron Meyers put Idaho on the board with the first goal of the game for the 1-0 lead. With less than three minutes remaining in the period, Wranglers left wing Adam Miller knotted the game up 1-1 after getting a shot past Kuhn.

A scoreless third period left the game tied after regulation, and overtime was forced for the second time in the Wranglers/Steelheads series. Fallon stopped six crucial shots to prevent game six from taking place, and at the 10:46 mark, Wranglers center Eric Lampe tallied the game-winning goal to secure Las Vegas' position in the Western Conference Final with a final score of 2-1. Stopping a total of 35 shots, Fallon received Three Star honors tonight in Boise, as did Lampe for his goal.

The Wranglers will face the Alaska Aces in the next round of playoffs after going 5-3-0-1 against them during the regular season. When playing at Orleans Arena against the Aces, the Wranglers are 3-1-0, and 2-2-1 on the road. With Alaska being the higher seed in the Western Conference, the next round will start on the road with dates and times to be announced. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
