Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Friday that forward Cody Purves has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.

Purves ("PUR-vess"), 26, posted three goals and 21 assists with the Central Hockey League's Arizona Sundogs last season, and added another goal and assist to his tallies during the postseason. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward made his ECHL debut with the Idaho Steelheads in 2010-11, collecting eight goals and 15 assists on his way to being voted "Most Improved Player" by his teammates that year. In 2011-12, Purves donned the alternate captain "A" with the Steelheads, and recorded three goals and 10 assists with five more points (4 goals, 1 assist) notched in the playoffs.

"The reason I wanted to get Cody here was because he was never fun to play against," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "He makes defensemen pay every time they go back to get a puck, and he gets to the net no matter what's in his way. Cody plays the game very hard and honestly, and he wants to win a championship. He's another high-energy guy who will help us every single night, any way he can."

Originally from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Purves racked up 43 goals and 74 assists in three seasons (2004-07) with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Nipawin Hawks. He then spent one year (2007-08) at the University of Saskatchewan before playing the next two seasons overseas in Germany.

The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies.

Season tickets for the Wranglers' 11th season are on sale now. The Wranglers offer flexible payment options on all plans, and 2013-14 packages start at just $200. Full season tickets can be reserved for as low as 25 percent down, and include benefits such as buddy passes, exclusive team events, and merchandise discounts.
