WPS, Chicago Red Stars Announce Revised Schedule

June 2, 2010 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
Chicago Red Stars News Release

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Women's Professional Soccer released its revised 2010 schedule Wednesday to compensate for last week's dissolution of Saint Louis Athletica. The Chicago Red Stars maintain a schedule featuring 12 home matches and 12 road matches for the year, and the four-team WPS playoff format for Sept. 19-26 is unaffected by the new schedule.

Chicago's schedule adjustments for home matches at Toyota Park are minimal. The Red Stars added one home date (7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, vs. Philadelphia Independence) to fill the void of losing the Sept. 11 home match originally to take place against Saint Louis. Three home dates feature a new opponent, but the times remain unchanged.

The Red Stars' June schedule also stays the same, with all four originally scheduled matches taking place on the same dates, times and locations.

In July, the Red Stars have added two road matches against the Washington Freedom (July 4) and Philadelphia (July 28), eliminated the original July 18 match scheduled for Saint Louis on July 18, and changed opponents for July 7 (hosting Atlanta instead of Washington) and July 10 (hosting Sky Blue FC instead of Philadelphia).

In August, the Red Stars added an Aug. 19 match at Washington, eliminated the Aug. 15 match at Philadelphia and eliminated the original Aug. 28 match at Saint Louis. On Aug. 11, Chicago will host Philadelphia instead of Atlanta.

In September, the Red Stars added a Sept. 1 home match against Philadelphia (7 p.m. kickoff) and eliminated the original Sept. 11 home match against Saint Louis.

The Red Stars are exploring the possibility of hosting an exhibition match on Saturday, Sept. 11, in place of the team's originally scheduled match against Athletica. The Red Stars will keep all ticket holders updated as the team moves forward with scheduling plans.

The complete revised Red Stars schedule for Chicago's remaining 17 games (eight home matches and nine road matches) is below, along with a listing of the original schedule. The revised schedule also is available online at www.ChicagoRedStars.com.

Chicago (2-4-1) next hosts the Atlanta Beat (0-5-1) at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Toyota Park, with the game televised live on Fox Soccer Channel. The team is offering a Family 4 Pack for this match: 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 soft drinks for only $76. Call 708-496-9500 for tickets.
