York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): For years, the tagline of Sports Radio 1350 WOYK has been "First in York, First in Sports." Now, the station's new Downtown York studios will be one of the first things people see entering York Revolution games and other events at Santander Stadium. The Revolution acquired the station in the autumn of 2013.
The new space, aside the stadium's main gate was christened on Saturday, March 7 during an event where 2015 Revolution single-game tickets went on sale to the public for the first time. Fans were given the opportunity to record fan testimonials for 2015 broadcasts of York Revolution baseball.
The operations of WOYK have moved from inside the press box at Santander Stadium. (More photos attached.)
"To be able to do all our live shows, and produce everything we need to broadcast the most live sports of any 24-hour sports station in this area in a dedicated studio is pretty special," said Darrell Henry, General Manager of WOYK 1350, and also the radio voice of Revolution baseball and York College basketball. "Being visible to fans and our listeners right out front of what is York's largest meeting place was an important goal when we took control of the station."
WOYK's commitment to local sports has deepened considerably in the past year. It includes far more than just a regular schedule of YAIAA football and basketball games on its airwaves. During the school year, journalists from local outlets the York Daily Record and Hanover Evening Sun combine to host *GameDay with GameTime PA, *from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays. Wayne McCullough also hosts *Central PA Gameday*, a longtime staple of WOYK programming, on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Both shows are dedicated recapping and previewing goings on for all high school sports in York and Adams Counties.
The station's local talk presence stretches further to local college sports. *York College Spartans Sports Weekly* is broadcast from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays during the school year, covering all YCP teams. 1350 is of course the home for all live broadcasts of Revolution baseball and York College men's & women's basketball, and now includes selected Spartan soccer and this spring, baseball games.
Finally, WOYK is the home of local professional sports. 2015 brought the premier of *Revs Hot Stove Weekly*, on Fridays from 4 to 5 p.m. February into April, which announces exclusively new additions to the York Revolution roster. WOYK's live programming stretches from local, to regional, to national. Since being acquired by York Revolution Professional Baseball, the station has become a part of the Hershey Bears Radio Network, and has added select games of Hershey's NHL parent club, the Washington Capitals, when the schedule permits. 1350 is the northern-most affiliate on the Capitals Radio Network.
The most live programming on a 24-hour sports station in York and York County also includes regular broadcasts of nationally relevant NFL, college football and college basketball games, including game broadcasts of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship in March
Listeners should follow the @WOYK1350 Twitter account, for constant programming and local sports updates.
