World Ford - Pensacola Pelicans Instructional Clinic
July 29, 2005 - Central Baseball League (Central League)
Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans and World Ford announce today they have partnered for the second annual FREE baseball clinic at Pelican Park on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to noon and feature Pelicans players and coaches as the instructors. Participants will be divided into groups and move around to hitting, fielding, base running, defense and throwing stations. Immediately following the clinic will be a free lunch and an autograph session.
World Ford is now accepting registration from the first 200 kids between the ages 9 - 15. In 2004, the camp quickly filled up as just over more than 150 athletes signed up with the excess being placed on a waiting list.
"We do not want to turn anyone away," said Pelicans General Manager George Stavrenos. "Last year was a great event, that's why we expanded the number of participants to 200 this year."
Participants can register at World Ford by calling Rich Ziemba at 476-9050. Registration will take place on a first come, first serve basis.
All athletes will receive a free clinic t-shirt for participating in the event.
Josh Courage Placed on Disabled List
Right handed pitcher and closer Josh Courage was placed on the DL today as he left the team to be with his family for an undisclosed family emergency. Courage will return to the Pelicans as soon as the situation is resolved.
Courage currently has a 4-2-6 record and has appeared in a team second highest 32 games pitched. He has struck 28 batters compared to only 14 walks.
