Worcester Signs D Jody Pederson to Tryout

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced rookie defenseman Jody Pederson has been loaned from the Thunder to the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Additionally, it was announced defenseman Ryan Constant and right winger Bretton Cameron have been activated off injured reserve. Center Craig Valette has been placed on the three-day injured reserve list.

Pederson, acquired by the Thunder from Elmira on Feb. 4 in exchange for goaltender Garrett Zemlak, has collected one goal and one assist in 32 games for the Thunder and Elmira this season.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defenseman has been signed to two separate tryout contracts with the Sharks and put up three assists in nine AHL games this season. He made his pro debut last season with the Providence Bruins on an amateur tryout contract last season, skating in two games with a +2 rating.

The Smithers, British Columbia native skated in 128 career games in college through four seasons (2006-10) with Princeton University (NCAA), scoring 58 points (12g-46a) and 12 goals with 82 penalty minutes. He earned All-Ivy (first team) honors as a 2008-09 junior, when he scored a career-high 19 points (5g-14a) in 35 games with the Tigers.

Constant, 25, leads all Thunder defensemen in scoring with 24 points (8g-16a) in 38 games this season, totaling a +4 rating with 65 penalty minutes. His five power-play goals are tied for first on the team and he is also the Thunder leader in power-play scoring with 14 points. By suiting up, he is scheduled to make his first return to the lineup since Jan. 23.

Cameron, 22, is fourth on the Thunder with 13 goals, totaling 24 points (13g-11a) in 40 games with a +1 rating and 68 penalty minutes.

Valette, 28, has scored 17 points (4g-13a) in 36 games this year.
