
Woollard carries Quad City to victory over PrairieThunder

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Chad Woollard scored two goals and added two assists for four points to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 7-3 Western Conference victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder in United Hockey League action before 3,520 people Friday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Woollard recorded his assists on the Mallards' first two goals, both scored by Brett Pilkington. Don Parsons, who had three assists, also had assists on the first two goals.
The Mallards extended their lead to 4-0 by the end of the first period on goals by Luke Stauffacher off an assist by Justin Chwedoruk and by Woollard on an unassisted power play goal.
Jon Booras broke the Bloomington scoring drought 9:07 into the second period off assists by Alex Goupil and Mike Zbriger. Quad City countered with a goal by Sean Starke on a power play goal with assists going to Mathieu Wathier and Parsons.
The PrairieThunder's Brad Thompson scored a goal off an assist by Tyler Rennette with 4:52 remaining in the second period. Woollard then scored his second unassisted goal two minutes later.
Rennette pulled Bloomington within 6-3 with 12:48 remaining in the game before Matt Radoslovich completed the Quad City scoring. The PrairieThunder owned a 39-34 advantage in shots on goal as its record to 13-33-2. Quad City is 22-19-5.
The PrairieThunder returns to action Saturday with a Western Conference game against Fort Wayne at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
