Belleville Bulls News Release

SUDBURY, ON - The Belleville Bulls rounded out a weekend road trip up north with a visit to the Sudbury Community Arena. The second of four meetings between the two clubs saw the Bulls capitalize on some early scoring chances on route to a 6-4 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.

Coming off a great come back effort on Friday night against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds the Bulls were hoping to rebound and pick up 2 of a possible 4-point weekend. The Bulls were on the scoreboard early and often, just under 3 minutes in Niki Petti took a beautiful cross ice pass from Brett Welychka and put away his 6th of the season. Dallas Stars draftee, Remi Elie added the other assist.

A penalty free period finished with the Bulls leading 1-0 on the scoreboard but trailing the Wolves 18-11 on the shot clock.

The Bulls kept the goals coming often in the middle frame. Stephen Harper, who continues to play forward, made a gorgeous move around Sudbury netminder Troy Timpano for his 6th of the season. Jordan Subban extended his point streak to 11 games with an assist on the goal. Michael Cramarossa added the other helper.

Midway through the period and following a Bulls goaltender change, the Wolves cut into the lead thanks to Brook Hiddink who beat Charlie Graham for his first of the season. Belleville answered right back though when Cramarossa put home his 5th of the year. David Tomasek, who continues to fill in on the blue line, picked up the helper.

Just over a minute later, Subban continued to separate himself from the rest of the OHL defenceman when he scored his 10th of the year. Tomasek picked up his 2nd assist of the night on the goal that made it 4-1 Bulls.

Teams exchanged markers for the remainder of the period. Rookie winger Brady Pataki buried his OHL goal to make it 4-2. Over-ager Brett Gustavsen then added his 7th of the season from Tomasek and Welyhcka and just under a minute later Kyle Capobianco made it 5-3 at 19:05 from Pavel Jenys. The Wolves continued to lead on the shot clock 32-25 after 40 minutes of play.

It didn't take long for the Bulls to add to their lead in the final period. Stephen Harper scored his second of the game when he potted a loose puck on the doorstep. Tomasek added his 4th assist of the contest and Matt Luff was credited with the other. Nathan Pancel added two more and Matt Schmalz tied the game with just 26 seconds left in regulation.

Just 1:18 into the overtime period, Nathan Pancel completed the come back with a hat-trick goal that snapped a 7 game at home losing streak for the Sudbury Wolves.

The Bulls fall to 11-5-1-1 with the loss. Connor Hicks made 22 saves.
