Wolves Drop Contest to Suns Despite Huge Third Quarter

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves (10-10) lost in the waning moments against the Northern Arizona Suns (3-16), dropping a game of big swings by the final score of 102-100 at Wells Fargo Arena on New Year's Day.

Down by as many as 22 points in the second quarter, Iowa responded in the third with a 45-15 run which included eight three-pointers made and 17-of-24 (70.8%) shooting from the floor.

Down by two points with under 10 seconds remaining in the game, Iowa had two chances to take the lead but were unable to convert on either of its three-point attempts.

Jordan Murphy finished with a season-high 24 points and team-high 13 rebounds for the Wolves while collecting his fourth double-double of the season. The former University of Minnesota forward shot 10-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-5 from deep in the loss.

Guard Lindell Wigginton was the focal point for the Wolves offense, collecting 22 points, four assists and a team-high four three-pointers made.

Defensively the Wolves were outscored 60-38 in the paint.

Six players tallied double-figures for the Suns, led by a 19-point, nine-rebound performance off the bench from Travon Palmer.

The Wolves continue their four-game homestand this Saturday with a matchup against the Memphis Hustle at 7:00 p.m. CT.
