Wolves down Rivermen 4-2
October 21, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
Julian Talbot provided a pair of goals for the Peoria Rivermen but it wasn't enough as the Chicago Wolves skated off with a 4-2 victory on Sunday at Carver Arena.
The Wolves started the scoring at 11:25 with the first of two goals off the stick of Jesse Schultz, followed by Andre Deveaux's marker at 13:10 to grab a 2-0 lead.
Talbot would respond at 18:37 with his first of the night from Martin Kariya and Charles Linglet during a delayed penalty call, firing a wrist shot from in close over the shoulder of Fred Brathwaite (28 saves).
In the second period the Rivermen would have three separate five-on-three advantages of varying length, but were unable to score and after 40 minutes the game remained 2-1 in favor of Chicago.
At 10:47 of the third period, Talbot let go with a quick wrist shot, the release seeming to surprise Brathwaite as it got by him to tie the game at two.
It would be a short-lived tie, however, as just 30 seconds later Schultz notched his second of the game. Colin Stuart provided the insurance with an empy net goal at 19:52.
The Rivermen will now host the Iowa Stars on Friday and the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday before heading to Grand Rapids for a road clash Sunday. All games can be heard on your new Home for Rivermen Hockey, ESPN 96.5. Tickets for all remaining home games are on sale through the Peoria Civic Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at 676-8700.
