Bulldogs lose to Moose

HAMILTON, ON - Despite out-shooting the Manitoba Moose 34-to-29, the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 5-1 decision on Sunday afternoon at Copps Coliseum.

The Moose opened the scoring at 11:03 of the first period on a 5-on-3 power play. Colby Genoway potted his team-leading fourth goal of the campaign with assists going to Luc Bourdon and Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

Manitoba added to its lead at 19:42 of the opening frame when Labrie earned his second point of the night with a power-play marker. Earning assists on the goal were Bourdon and Jimmy Sharrow.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard at 7:53 of the second period when Jonathan Ferland tipped home a Janne Lahti shot on the power play. Sergei Kostitsyn also drew an assist on the goal and now leads Hamilton with four helpers on the season.

The Moose scored three consecutive goals in the remainder of the second period to ice the 5-1 victory. Manitoba restored its two-goal lead at 8:54 of the middle stanza when Michael Grabner scored his second goal of the season. At 11:52 of the frame, Alexandre Bolduc made it 4-1 for the Moose before Jozef Balej added Manitoba's fifth goal at the 15:10 mark.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Between the pipes, Jaroslav Halak stopped 24 of 29 shots in a losing cause, while Drew MacIntyre turned aside 33 of 34 shots to earn the victory.

The Bulldogs scored their only goal of the game on the power play going 1-for-7 with the man advantage. The Moose went 2-for-7 on the power play.
