Anchorage Wolverines News Release
CLOQUET, MN -- The Wolverines earned a massive road victory Friday night, taking down the division-leading Minnesota Wilderness in a 3-1 statement win.
After falling behind 1-0 in the opening period, Anchorage responded with poise. Newest roster addition Balint Lobenwein netted the equalizer, finishing a sharp feed from Jack McKenna to shift momentum back in the Wolverines' favor.
Luc Bydal once again delivered when it mattered most. The team's leading scorer buried the game-winner just four minutes into the third period, giving Anchorage a lead they would not surrender.
With the Wilderness pressing late, Sam Evert sealed the win in dramatic fashion, finding the empty net with just one second remaining to finalize the 3-1 scoreline.
Between the pipes, Kai Weigel was outstanding. The netminder turned aside 40 of 41 shots, anchoring the defensive effort and frustrating Minnesota's high-powered offense all night long.
The two teams wrap up the series this afternoon with a 4:15 pm puck drop at Northwoods Credit Union. Fans can stream the action exclusively on NAHLtv or join the Wolverines' official watch party at Dave & Buster's.
