Wolf Pack Announce Roster Transactions

HARTFORD, March 3, 2015: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld today announced three Wolf Pack roster moves. The parent New York Rangers have assigned forward Carl Klingberg and defenseman Chris Summers, both of whom were acquired just prior to Monday's NHL trade deadline, to the Wolf Pack, and the Wolf Pack has released defenseman Sean Escobedo from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Klingberg, 24, who has split the 2014-15 season between the NHL's Winnipeg Jets and the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL, was acquired by the Rangers Sunday from the Jets, in exchange for fellow forward Lee Stempniak. Klingberg has skated in 51 AHL games this season, registering 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points, along with 41 penalty minutes. He led St. John's in shots on goal (152), was tied for first on the team in goals, and ranked fourth in points. Klingberg also appeared in two games with the Jets this season.

The 6-3, 205-pounder has skated in 12 career NHL games with the Thrashers/Jets franchise, registering one goal and four penalty minutes. He has appeared in 256 career AHL games, registering 64 goals and 69 assists for 133 points, along with a plus-10 rating and 168 penalty minutes.

Klingberg was originally selected by the Thrashers in the second round, 34th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Summers was obtained by the Rangers from the Arizona Coyotes Sunday, along with fellow blueliner Keith Yandle and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, in exchange for defenseman John Moore, forward Anthony Duclair, a second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and a conditional first-round pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Summers, 27, has split the 2014-15 season between the Coyotes and the AHL's Portland Pirates. He has skated in 17 NHL games this season, recording three assists and eight penalty minutes. In eight AHL outings with the Pirates, Summers has one assist and six PIM.

The 6-2, 209-pounder has skated in 64 career NHL games over parts of five seasons, all with the Coyotes, registering two goals and seven assists for nine points, along with 47 penalty minutes. In 225 career AHL contests, the fifth-year pro has totaled six goals and 29 assists for 35 points, plus 197 PIM. Summers was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round, 29th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Escobedo, signed to a PTO by the Wolf Pack February 22, was scoreless with one shot on goal in two games with Hartford. The second-year pro out of Boston University returns to the Wolf Pack's ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors, for whom he has 3-12-15, with 32 PIM, in 44 games this season.
