Wolf Pack Add Defenseman Tomas Kundratek

HARTFORD, April 15, 2009: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Tomas Kundratek to the Wolf Pack from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League.

Kundratek, a 19-year-old native of Prerov, Czech Republic, skated in 51 games with Medicine Hat this season and had four goals and 19 assists for 23 points, along with 63 penalty minutes and a +8. The 6-2, 192-pounder tied for second among team defensemen in assists. In 11 postseason games, Kundratek contributed six assists, which tied him for third on the team in helpouts and was good for second among Tiger blueliners in points and assists.

Prior to coming to the WHL this season, Kundratek was a third-round selection (90th overall) of the Rangers' in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Atlantic Division regular season-champion Wolf Pack open their 12th straight trip to the Calder Cup playoffs tomorrow night, Thursday, April 16, at the XL Center, in Game One of their first-round series against the Worcester Sharks. Faceoff is 7:00, and Game Two of the series is this Saturday night, April 18, also at the XL Center and also at 7:00.
