
Wolf Dominates Wichita in Wednesday Night Win

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions continued their six-game series against the Wichita Wind Surge on Wednesday night. Jackson Wolf carried a perfect game bid into the sixth inning while the Missions offense provided 10 runs for the southpaw. For Wolf, he secured his third consecutive win and quality start as the Missions improved to 29-24 on the season.
Aaron Rozek was the starting pitcher for the Wind Surge. The southpaw retired all three batters in the first inning before allowing two runs in the second. Pedro Castellanos began the inning with a single. He came around to score on a double from Michael De La Cruz. Juan Fernandez reached base on a throwing error. On the play, De La Cruz came in to score. The Missions took a 2-0 lead.
San Antonio improved their lead in the bottom of third inning by scoring five runs on five hits. De La Cruz drove in Castellanos with a single to center field. Fernandez drove in De La Cruz with a base hit to left-center field. Jorge Ona hit a two-run home run to left field. Lastly, Ripken Reyes drove in Ray-Patrick Didder with a single to center field. The Missions increased their lead to 7-0.
The Missions made it an 8-0 ballgame in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Andrew Cabezas, De La Cruz doubled with two outs in the frame. Fernandez drove in De La Cruz with a base hit to left-center field.
Meanwhile, Jackson Wolf carried a perfect game bid through the first five innings of the game. Leading off the top of the sixth inning, David Banuelos singled to right field and was the first Wichita batter to reach base.
Wolf surrendered another base hit during the sixth inning and left both runners stranded. The southpaw struck out seven batters in six scoreless frames and recorded his third consecutive quality start.
Aaron Leasher tossed a scoreless seventh inning while issuing one walk. Justin Lopez pitched the eighth inning for the Missions. The Wind Surge put an end to the shutout after scoring a run off Lopez. With two outs in the frame, Will Holland singled and drove in Yoyner Fajardo. The Missions held an 8-1 lead.
The San Antonio offense continued to add runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Alex Scherff, Reyes began the frame with a base hit. Ornelas drove in Reyes with a double to left field. Yorman Rodriguez drove in Ornelas with a single to left field. The Missions extended their lead to 10-1.
James Bourque, making his Missions debut, was called on to pitch the top of the ninth inning. The right-hander struggled with his command as he walked two of the first three batters he faced. After recording the second out of the inning, Bourque allowed back-to-back singles and was replaced by Nick Hernandez. A throwing error from Fernandez extended the inning and made it a 10-4 ballgame.
