Sporting Kansas City News Release
KANSAS CITY, MO (Thursday, October 19, 2006) - OnGoal, LLC announced today that one of its principals, Robb Heineman, will serve as Interim President of the Kansas City Wizards through the club's reorganization. As part of the plan, Heineman announced the club's intention to increase the breadth and capacity of its technical staff.
"We are committed to building a personality across this organization; a personality of passion and professionalism. Kansas City may be viewed by some as a small-market, but we intend to make a big impression on the landscape of U.S. soccer. A key component of our club's vision is the demonstration of support from ownership to our player partners, and a willingness to invest in people and resources to help them be successful. We are absolutely driven by the opportunity to showcase, support and partner with our existing roster of world-class athletes to develop an organization that exudes the passion required to achieve success at the highest levels."
The club announced today that it has launched a process to enhance the technical, or "soccer side," of the Wizards. The club will immediately look to hire a Technical Director, as well as fortify its existing staff with a comprehensive team including a Director of Scouting and a Director of Physical Training and Wellness. The team will also look to solidify its Head Coach position, with current Interim Head Coach Brian Bliss as a candidate. Heineman indicated he would like all of these positions filled in the very near term.
"There is a large task at hand, and 2007 started for us last Sunday. Coming in as new owners, we understand there has been a high standard set for us around the league. We are energized by the opportunity to work with our fans, staff and players to present a world-class soccer product to Major League Soccer that will make Kansas City proud."
