Wizards Make First-Ever Trip to Rio Tinto Stadium to Face Real Salt Lake
May 15, 2009 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Sporting Kansas City News Release
The Kansas City Wizards (3-4-2, 11 pts) travel to face Real Salt Lake (3-4-1, 10 pts) Saturday in Kansas City's first-ever appearance at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Wizards are 4-2-2 all-time against RSL but have never played at the team's new venue that opened late in the 2008 MLS season. Kansas City will look to deliver Real Salt Lake's first-ever loss in the stadium.
Two of the top scorers in MLS face off Saturday, as Kansas City's Josh Wolff meets Real's Robbie Findley. Findley is tied for the League lead with five goals, while Wolff is just behind with four strikes on the season. Wolff, a 12-year MLS veteran, has 66 career goals and ranks 16th all-time on the MLS scoring list. Findley has been in MLS since 2007 and has scored 19 goals in his young career.
Wizards Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman recently added another MLS record to his already impressive resume. Hartman has played every minute in goal for the Wizards since he joined the team prior to the 2007 season. Including the latter part of 2006 while with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Hartman has not missed a minute of play in his last 91 MLS matches. Hartman's consecutive minute streak of 8190 minutes surpasses the previous mark set by goalkeeper Matt Reis of New England, 7,920 minutes (2005-2008). Hartman is also nearing 2nd place on the MLS lists for consecutive games started and consecutive games played. Hartman already occupies 2nd place on both lists, set from 2002-2005 while with the Galaxy.
Hartman is already Major League Soccer's all-time leader in games played as a goalkeeper (312), wins (141), saves (1,158) and shutouts (80). He ranks 2nd all-time in minutes played (27,945) and 3rd in games played (312).
