Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, N.D. -- A fast paced Colorado 14ers team came to Dakota following a huge loss to the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday and dominated the game from the tip. The game featured six lead changes, although none of them came in the second half giving Colorado a 124 - 112 victory at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Former Wizards guard Billy Thomas made his return to Dakota a memorable one scoring 19 and dishing 6 assists with 5 rebounds for the 14ers. More so Thomas set the tempo for the game with the pace of race cars up and down the court which left the Wizards defense, who was short forward Renaldo Major due to injury, confused at times.

"You can't win games with turnovers," said Wizards head coach Duane Ticknor. "We have to take better care of the ball with a great team like Colorado. A team like that will take advantage of every misstep and they did."

Colorado's starting five all scored in double figures including Billy Thomas. Guard John Lucas finished the night off with the a game high 29 points, while forward Dominique Coleman nailed 24 points while flirting with a triple double 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Dakota, who falls to 20-16 on the season, were led in scoring by guard Blake Ahearn with 22 points and six assists. Forward Richard Hendrix grabbed his 18th double double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while center Rod Benson grabbed a double double of his own with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Colorado, now 21-10, heads home for a match-up with divisional rival Austin Toro's. Dakota has a few days to recoup as they will take on first place in the Central Division Iowa Energy on Sunday March 8th at 3:00 PM CT.
