Bismarck, N.D. (Apr. 2, 2012) - The Dakota Wizards used a 23-5 run late in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Bakersfield Jam as Dakota defeated Bakersfield 111-92. With the win, Dakota clinches a playoff berth and are tied with the Springfield for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Performer of the Week, Stefhon Hannah, lead the way once again for the Wizards scoring 24 points, dishing out 11 assists, and grabbing 6 rebounds. Hannah was 5 for 9 from behind the arc.
Edwin Ubiles started the game hot for the Wizards scoring 13 of his 15 points in the first quarter to give Dakota a 24-21 lead after one. Hannah pushed the Wizards lead to 11 on a couple free throws late in the second quarter as he was perfect from the field and free throw line in the quarter. A Chris Wright jump shot made the Wizards lead to 13 before the Jam finished the quarter on a 9-2 run and cut the Wizards lead to 52-46 heading into the half.
Bakersfield stuck with Dakota for most of the third quarter before Dakota went on a run that ended with a heave from Hannah at the buzzer to give the Wizards an 88-71 lead heading into the final quarter. An ally-oop dunk from Hannah to Wright sparked a 15-2 Dakota run in the fourth that put the game out of reach for Bakersfield
All five starters finished in double figures for the Wizards. Marcus Dove recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Griffin came off the bench to score 11.
Trey Johnson came off the bench for the Jam to score a team-high 16 points in the loss.
Dakota and Bakersfield have identical records (27-20) with the Wizards holding the tie-breaker over the Jam. The two teams flip-flop spots in the overall standings with Dakota now holding the 4th spot.
