Roanoke Dazzle News Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has assigned second-year center Peter John Ramos to the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBA D-League. Roanoke, led by Head Coach Kent Davison, is the Wizards D-League affiliate.

"We are pleased with P.J.'s progress and we are happy that he had the opportunity to practice with our team for the past couple of weeks," said Grunfeld. "We feel that by assigning P.J. back to Roanoke, he can continue to get the playing time that he needs to further his development."

Ramos, 20, was originally sent to Roanoke on November 14, 2005. In 21 games with the Dazzle, he averaged 14.2 points on 55.3 percent shooting, as well as 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game. He was recalled from Roanoke on January 19 and was active for one game against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 22, but did not play.

Ramos' best effort for Roanoke came in a 119-108 victory over the Fayetteville Patriots on January 16, when he recorded 26 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.

A native of Puerto Rico, Ramos was originally selected by Washington in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft. As a rookie last season, Ramos averaged 1.8 points and 0.7 rebounds per game for Washington.
