DAVENPORT, IA - Monte Harrison hit a two-out, solo home run in the top of the eighth inning and Luke Barker got two huge double plays late in the game to lead the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 1-0 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park.

Wisconsin starting pitcher Trey Supak was perfect through 5-2/3 innings as he retired the first 17 batters he faced. However, the Rattlers' offense could not get him the lead in the early stages of the game.

The River Bandits first hit was a two-out double by Chuckie Robinson in the sixth. Supak would walk Daz Cameron on a 3-2 pitch and he would leave after reaching his pitch count for the game. Supak struck out seven in the game.

Jordan Desguin took over for Supak and gave up an infield single to Stephen Wrenn to load the bases. Then, Desguin fell behind Ronnie Dawson with three straight pitches out of the strike zone. However, the Rattler reliever fought back to strike out Dawson looking to keep the game scoreless.

Ryan Aguilar started the Wisconsin seventh inning with a double, but he was still standing at second base when the inning ended after a popup on a sacrifice bunt and two strikeouts.

Harrison, who had doubled with one out in the sixth inning, gave the Rattlers (1-1) the lead in the eighth inning when he cracked a two-out, solo home run on a 2-0 pitch. That home run ended the Wisconsin scoreless streak to start the season at 16-2/3 innings.

The River Bandits (1-1) put a threat together in the bottom of the eighth inning as Anibal Sierra and Robinson singled off Desguin to put runners at first and third with one out.

Barker took over for Desguin and got Cameron to ground into an inning-ending double play to keep the Rattlers up 1-0.

In the bottom of the ninth, Wrenn singled to start the inning and stole second with one out. Then, Barker walked Taylor Jones to put the winning run on base and bring Randy Cesar to the plate. Cesar sent a screaming line drive right at third baseman Jose Cuas for the second out and Wrenn was caught too far off second. Cuas tossed to Tucker Neuhaus covering at second to double Wrenn off second for a double play to end the game

The Timber Rattlers have their home opener on Saturday against the River Bandits at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05pm.
