Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

The Western Conference Final shifts to Portland this week with the Hawks having won Game 2 in Kelowna Saturday by a score of 3-2 to even the series at 1-1. Game 3 will be tomorrow at the Moda Center and Game 4 will be Wednesday, also at the Moda Center.

Nic Petan has been on a tear for the Hawks in the playoffs, with at least one point in all 13 games the team has played in the postseason. Petan has eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in the playoffs, ranking him first on the team and second in the league behind Calgary's Adam Tambellini.

He's also close to making history on two fronts. With 84 career playoff games under his belt, he's third in league history in that category. He's one game away from tying former Winterhawks defenseman Derrick Pouliot for first in team history and second in league history, and three games away from tying the league record of 87 career playoff games. That mark is held by Shay Stevenson, who set the record with the Red Deer Rebels from 2000-2004.

Adin Hill is the WHL's nominee for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. He was outstanding in net in the first two games against Kelowna, making 43 saves on Game 1 and 38 saves in Game 2. Hill has been particularly stingy in third periods in recent games. He has not allowed a third period goal in four straight games in the playoffs, since Game 3 of the second round series against Everett. In Games 4 and 5 of that series (including overtime in Game 4), and now the first two of the Conference Final, Hill has stopped all 45 third period and overtime shots he's faced.

In the Eastern Conference Final the Brandon Wheat Kings won both games at home over the weekend to take a 2-0 lead in the series over the Calgary Hitmen.
