Winterhawks' defenseman Henri Jokiharju has signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

Jokiharju, a native of Oulu, Finland, was drafted by the Blackhawks in the first round, 29th overall, at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. The 1999-born defenseman just finished his second season with the Winterhawks.

Jokiharju recorded career highs in goals (12), assists (59) and points (71) in 63 games. He finished second in the WHL in assists among defenseman, while ranking third in points. Jokiharju was named a Western Conference Second-Team All-Star at the end of this past regular season.

Jokiharju was selected in the first-round of the 2016 CHL Import Draft by Portland. He has currently played 134 career regular season games for the Winterhawks, registering 21 goals and 98 assists. While also playing in 23 playoff games, and notching 11 points.

On the international stage, Jokiharju represented Finland at the 2018 World Junior Championship, registering four points in five games. He also led his country to a Gold Medal at the 2016 U18 World Junior Championship, recording three assists in seven tournament games.
