Winterhawks Announce Promotion of Don Hay to Associate Coach

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, announced today that the organization has promoted Don Hay to Associate Coach.

The upcoming 2021-22 season will be the fourth with the Winterhawks and 37th of Hay's coaching career. In his first three seasons with the club he operated under the title of assistant coach and to date he remains the winningest coach in WHL history.

Including Hay, Portland's bench for the upcoming season will once again feature Vice President/General Manager/Head Coach Mike Johnston, and Brian Pellerin, who returns to the organization for his second stint as assistant coach.

The trio will begin the organization's 46th season of hockey Friday, October 1. One day later, October 2, the home schedule at Veterans Memorial Coliseum will begin against the rival Seattle Thunderbirds with Pacific Office Automation Opening Night.
