
Winterhawks Alum Mac Carruth Signs with Cardiff Devils (EIHL)

Portland, Ore. - Former Winterhawks goaltender Mac Carruth made news over the weekend, officially signing with the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
Carruth, the franchise leader in wins (117) and shutouts (11), played in 176 games in Portland from 2009-2013. During that time he posted a save percentage (SV%) of .910 and a 2.85 goals against average (GAA) en route to becoming a draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Perhaps more notably, the now 29-year-old went 16-4-1 with a .937 SV% in his final playoffs, backstopping the Winterhawks 2013 WHL Championship.

The upcoming 2021-22 season will be the ninth of Carruth's professional career. His journey began with four seasons in North America, splitting time between the AHL and the ECHL. Since then the Salt Lake City-born netminder has spent two seasons in Hungry and most recently a pair in Germany.
