Portland Winterhawks News Release

The Portland Winter Hawks announced Friday that they have dropped 18-year old right wing C.J. Jackson from the team's playing roster.

Jackson will remain on the team's 50-player protected list while General Manager Ken Hodge explores options for Jackson to play elsewhere in the WHL. If no other team in the WHL is interested in Sutherlin, Hodge said he would try to Jackson a good playing situation at the tier two level.

"With the return of Robin Big Snake from his American Hockey League try-out and the depth we currently have on our forward lines, we felt we had to make a move," Hodge said. "I hope I can find a situation that will be good for C.J. in our league."

Jackson had dressed in only three of the Hawks' first six games of the season as teams can only play 20 players in each game.

The move leaves Portland's roster at 24 players (15 forwards, 7 defensemen and two goaltenders).

Big Snake is back in town and is practicing with the team in preparation for Saturday's 7:00 game at Key Arena against the Seattle Thunderbirds and Sunday's 5:00 home matchup against the Lethbridge Hurricanes in Memorial Coliseum.
