DASH WIN SUSPENDED GAME 2-1

In a game that resumed play on Saturday evening after being suspended due to rain in the top of the second inning on Friday, Winston-Salem beat Carolina 2-1 to take the series opener at BB&T Ballpark. The contest began on Friday night, as starter Jimmy Lambert got the start for the Dash and pitched 1.1 innings and struck out Mudcats before the game was suspended. When the game resumed play on Saturday, Kyle Kubat took over and went on to pitch 3.2 perfect innings, striking out four in the process to earn his second win of the year. The lone offense for Winston-Salem came on a two-run homer from Yermin Mercedes in the second inning against Victor Diaz. Overall, the Dash bullpen combined to throw 7.2 innings, with Zach Thompson locking down the save with two perfect innings.

DASH BLAST MUDCATS 11-3 IN GM2

Behind a quality start from Tanner Banks and an impressive night from the Dash offense, Winston-Salem defeated Carolina 11-3 in Saturday's regularly-scheduled game at BB&T Ballpark. Banks pitched six innings and allowed just three hits and three runs while striking out a career-high 10 batters in the contest. Joel Booker, who led off the first with a single, came around to score in the opening frame on an RBI double from Mitch Roman. Booker added a two-run single in the second to make it a 3-0 contest as part of a 3-for-3 effort. The Dash would later plate six runs in the fourth to pull away, a stretch capped off by a Mercedes three-run homer.

HOLA, RAYADOS

For the second time this season, Winston-Salem will be sporting its Rayados jerseys as part of Minor League Baseball's "Copa de la Diversion," or "Fun Cup," a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams' local Hispanic/Latino communities. "Rayados" translates to "the Striped Ones," and is born out of a collaboration with the baseball team and the Hispanic League of Winston-Salem.

HOME-HEAVY END TO THE FIRST HALF

After a road-heavy schedule to start the season, which has seen the Dash play 32 of their first 54 games on the road, Winston-Salem closes out the first half with 13 of its final 16 games at BB&T Ballpark. This stretch includes the team's current three-game series against the Carolina Mudcats, a three-game set against Salem (6/5-6/7), a three-game series against Myrtle Beach (6/11-6/13) and a four-game set against Wilmington (6/14-6/17).

IT'S ABOUT TO GET MUDDY

Sunday marks the final game of a three-game set against the Carolina Mudcats, who are currently fourth in the Southern Division with a 27-28 record. The Dash are 6-4 against Carolina this season, having previously squared off against their Southern Division foe in a pair of four-game sets. Winston-Salem fell in three of four games at Five County Stadium to kick off the 2018 campaign, but the Dash got some revenge by taking three out of four from the Muddies in an eventful series from April 12-15.

ALL-STAR STUFF

Right-hander Dylan Cease, who is rated the fifth-best prospect in the White Sox system per MLB Pipeline, will get the ball in the series finale on Sunday. The former Chicago Cubs farmhand has pitched like an All-Star this season, having posted a 6-2 record with a 2.96 ERA through his first 10 starts with Winston-Salem. The 22-year-old was acquired by the White Sox last July in a trade that sent big league left-hander Jose Quintana to the Cubs. Cease is 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in two starts against Carolina this year.

DASH DOTS

Winston-Salem has had a great run of starting pitching over the last 11 games, having seen its starters log nine quality starts during that span... Overall, Winston-Salem rotation members have posted a 6-3 record with a 1.73 ERA in that stretch (13 ER in 67.2 IP)...Winston won its first Rayados game 5-3 on May 6 against Lynchburg.
