Winning Streak Hits 7 Games

JOHNSTOWN, PA - Not even playing on the other side of thecountry could slow down Trevor Stewart(East Wenatchee, Wash.). Stewart recorded two points, including thegame-winning goal, to help the Wenatchee Wild earn a 3-2 win Saturday over theJohnstown Tomahawks. The win gave the Wild a 2-game sweep over the Tomahawksand extended their winning streak to seven games.

Stewart notched the eventual game-winner 4:35 into the thirdperiod when he picked off a Johnstown breakout pass in the high slot and fireda wrist shot over the right shoulder of goaltender Colin Brennan.

Stewart has scored four goals, registered six points and isplus-6 since he returned to the lineup on Feb. 2.

"I think he continues to add depth," Wild head coach Bliss Littler said of Stewart. "He hasnice scoring touch and fits in very nicely. He has played on three differentlines and has contributed everywhere he has been."

Stewart also contributed on the first goal of the game,which gave the Wild a 1-0 lead 48 seconds into the second period. During a rushinto the offensive zone during a power play, Stewart set up Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.), whoscored from the slot. Joe Sullivan (LasVegas, Nev.) also assisted.

The Tomahawks tied up the score, 1-1, at the 3:11 mark ofthe second period when Jordan Watt scored on a breakaway. Mitch Hall assisted.

The Wild took the lead back with 3:26 remaining before thesecond intermission when Sullivan scored on his own rebound. Chris Kerr (Penticton, BritishColumbia) picked up the lone assist.

Stewart notched the eventual game-winner for Wenatchee 4:35into the third period. Johnstown cut the lead down to 3-2 with 4:49 left inregulation when Mitch Kontny knocked in a loose puck during a power play on anassist from Watt, but the Tomahawks were unable to score the equalizer down thestretch.

Stewart (1G, 1A) and Sullivan (1G, 1A) each recorded twopoints for the Wild. Watt (1G, 1A) led the Tomahawks with two points.

Both of Johnstown's goals were scored on the power play. Onthe night, Johnstown went 2-for-4 on its power play chances while Wenatcheewent 1-for-6.

Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) made 18 saves on 20 shots to earn the win. Brennan made 25saves on 28 shots for the Tomahawks.

The Wild (35-7-4) will travel north to New York to take onthe Jamestown Ironmen on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 22-23). Friday's game isscheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday's game is slated for a 1 p.m. start. Fanscan watch both games for a small fee by logging on to www.FASTHockey.com.

Jamestown is currently in second place in the North Division.The Ironmen are giving up an average of just 2.56 goals per game, which is theseventh best in the NAHL.

"They're a very well coached team," Littler said of theIronmen. "They're one of the more defensive teams in the league. They candefinitely create problems for you, especially if you make mistakes and turnthe puck over."
