Winker Placed on Dragons Disabled List

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Outfielder Jesse Winker has been placed on the disabled list.

Outfielder Jon Matthews has been promoted to Dayton from Billings.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Winker suffered a sprained foot in Saturday night's game. He has appeared in 112 games for the Dragons this season to rank second on the club. He leads the team in home runs with 16 and runs batted in with 76 while batting .281. Winker is tied for the lead among all Cincinnati Reds Minor League hitters in RBI. He served as the starting left fielder for the Eastern Division in the Midwest League All-Star Game and won the Home Run Derby during all-star festivities.

Matthews has appeared in 46 games at Billings this season, batting .292 with three home runs and eight RBI. He ranks second in the Pioneer League in stolen bases with 22. Matthews has played extremely well over the past month. Since July 17, he is batting .361 to rank fourth in the Pioneer League over the period. Matthews was drafted in the eighth round in 2011 out of St. Petersburg College. He played at Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia.
