The Wings jumped out early Friday night but needed a late goal to push the game into overtime and eventually come away with the 2 points.
Leonid Bilgakov started the scoring with a goal at the 13:04 mark of the first period. Nikolai Tishkevich would put the Wings up 2-0 with a goal at the 5:40 mark of the period. Things were looking good for the Wings, until St. Cloud would get a goal late in the first to help shift the momentum. St. Cloud would get two quick goals in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead into the final 20 minutes. The Wings would use a 5 minute major penalty to tie things up on a Logan Gravink goal at the 13:31 point of the 3rd. The rest of regulation was scoreless, sending the Wings to their 2nd straight overtime game. At the 3:10 mark of the 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime period Luke Lindsay was able to find a streaking Tishkevich who went in 1-0 with the St. Cloud goaltender and finished top shelf giving the Wings the win.
The two teams will meet once again tonight in St. Cloud. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm CST. You can watch the Wings on the road all season long at City Lights Bar & Event Center in Aberdeen or by logging on to NAHLTV.COM.
