Weekend Recap

The Wings were able to pick up a point this weekend but were unable to come away with a win. Both Friday and Saturday nights games were very competitive and physical as we have come to expect out of the rivalry with the Bismarck Bobcats. Friday night the Bobcats came out firing jumping to a 3-0 lead. The Wings battled back scoring 2 unanswered of their own. Justin Parizek got the Wings on the board just 17 seconds into the 3rd period with the assists going to Jordan Heller. Emil Blomqvist was able to get the Wings to within a goal when he scored on a rap around at the 7:55 mark. The bobcats were able to keep the Wings out of the net for the rest of the period, handing the Wings a 3-2 loss. In net for the Wings was Chad Catt who made 29 saves on 32 shots. Saturday night was a defensive battle for both teams as each goaltender allowed only 1 goal throughout regulation. Zach Kraft got the unassisted goal for Aberdeen at the 5:04 mark in the 2nd period. A controversial call late in regulation put the wings on the penalty kill to start Overtime and the Bobcats used it to their advantage, netting the game winner just 21 seconds into the extra frame. Catt was once again in net and played an outstanding game stopping 44 of the 46 shots he faced.
