Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Wings are back at the Odde this Friday and Saturday night! Friday night the Wings (14-19-8) will host the Brookings Blizzard (17-19-6). This will be the 9th meeting of the instate rivals this season, with Aberdeen holding a (6-1-2) series lead, including winning the last 6 straight. Brookings is 5-12-4 on the road this year while the Wings are 7-10-3 at the Odde. The Blizzard split last weekend, losing Friday to Austin 6-1 and beating the Magicians 5-2 Saturday. Looking at the bigger NAHL Central division picture the two teams are currently battling for a playoff spot. Brookings with 40 points currently holds the 4th and final spot with the Wings just 4 points back. The teams will only face one another 2 more times after Friday's meeting so any points the Wings can get will be big in their final push to the playoffs.
Saturday night Minot (23-16-4) returns to the Odde to face the Wings for the 5th time in the last 3 weeks. The Minotauros are currently sitting in 2nd place in the division, just one point behind the Bismarck Bobcats. Look for a tight game Saturday as the two teams have at least gone into overtime 2 of the last 4 meetings. Aberdeen will look for Matt Pulver to stay hot after his return. In the last 5 games played Pulver has 2 goals and an assist. Returner Austin Heakins is tied with Pulver over that time period with a goal and 2 assists of his own. Kevin Fitzgerald has 3 assists which matched Pulver and Heakins in points over the last 5 games.
The doors open at 5:30 both nights with the puck dropping at 7:15! Remember Friday night is singles night! With happy hour and $2 popcorn running from 5:30-6:30, and a singles section where you can mingle with other singles! Saturday is the Pre-V-Day game! Like and share the Wings facebook post for your opportunity to win the Wings Valentine's day package, which includes @ reserved seats at Saturday night's game, a dozen roses, $50 gift card to Minerva's in Aberdeen, and a Wings prize package! The winner will be announced Saturday at noon!
