Wings Weekend Preview
February 4, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
Your Aberdeen Wings (13-18-8) will be back on the bus this Friday and Saturday night to take on the Minot Minotauros (22-16-3). This will be the 3rd and 4th straight games that the Wings have faced off against the Minotauros. Minot is currently sitting in 2nd place in the NAHL Central Division, just 2 points behind Bismarck. In a division that has very little separation every team is still fighting for a playoff spot making every game crucial. The Wings are (6-8-5) on the road this season, while Minot is (8-9-1) at home. Aberdeen is 2-3-3 vs Minot so far this season.
Aberdeen will look to Veterans Austin Heakins and Matt Pulver who in the past 5 games have 2 goals and 2 assists each. Both players have added leadership since coming back to the lineup. Something to watch for this weekend will be if the Wings can jump out to an early lead and how they react if they are in that situation late. Aberdeen Shots on goal this year tend to drop in the 3rd period while Minot gets the majority of their shots in the 3rd. For comparison Aberdeen has 61 shots in 3rd periods this year while Minot has 106. Much like Bismarck last Wednesday both teams will look to score first and keep the foot on the gas. Minot is 13-0-2 when scoring first while Aberdeen is 11-1-6.
Friday night the puck will drop at 7:35pm CST from the Maysa Arena in Minot, ND. Saturday night puck drop is at 8:05pm CST. Both games can be heard at 94.1 The ROCK, Streamed at hubcityradio.com or watched at fasthockey.com. If your in the Aberdeen area, stop in to Minervas for a viewing party both nights!
