MIDDLETOWN, N.J. - Despite pulling within one goal twice, the Titans fell short as the Knights pulled away late to win by a 5-2 score.

The first time they pulled within one, Bruno Birzitis took advantage of a bounce off the boards at 8:24 of the second period. He took it to the high slot and snapped a shot that zipped past the glove of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton goaltender Grant Valentine. Dakota Ford and Danny Weaver recorded assists.

After giving up another goal six minutes later, the Titans immediately responded, getting another goal, just 59 seconds later. Birzitis once again sniped one top shelf past Valentine's glove side.

The Titans had a burst of energy coming out of the dressing room after coming back out on the ice in the third period and it earned them a power play just 19 seconds into the final period. However, they couldn't cash in.

With the two goals on the game Birzitis now has nine goals and 30 points on the year.

While they went 0-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill, the Titans managed to outshoot the Knights 37-26 despite the loss.

They'll return to the ice on Saturday night against the Johnstown Tomahawks at 7:30 p.m. Limited tickets are available for home the contest. Visit NJTitansNAHL.com or call 888-997-4625 before they sell out.
