
Wings Use Six Run Eighth; Snap Skid

The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (33-38) used a six run eighth in route to a 10-4 Win over the Fort Worth Cats (43-26) with the win the Wings snap their eight game losing streak.
RGV scored first, with a RBI single from Hector Garcia scoring Cody Collins as the Wings broke a 25 score less inning.
Fort Worth answered with a solo homerun from Cody Bishop tying the game at one run even.
Daniel Meeley gave the Cats a 2-1 lead after a sacrifice fly scoring David Bergin.
The Cats added to their lead with a solo home run from Bergin, the solo blast was his United League leading 16th home run.
The Wings cut the lead with a sacrifice fly from Garcia scoring Roberto Ramirez making it 3-2 Cats.
RGV grabbed a two run inning in the top of the seventh. Hiroki Itakura scored on a wild pitch tying the game at three runs even.
Ramirez later scored on a sacrifice fly giving the Wings a late 4-3 lead.
RGV opened up the flood gates scoring six runs in the top of the eighth inning. Cody Collins lead the hitting with a two run double. Hector Garcia added to his night going 2-for-4 with three RBI's.
RGV scored six runs on four hits, the inning extended the Wings lead to a 10-3 lead, Forth Worth added one more run in the bottom of the eighth, trimming the lead to 10-4.
The series finale is set for Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as RGV looks to salvage a split in the four game series.
