Wings Headed to Buffalo in Week 7

The Philadelphia Wings (3-4) hit the road to face the Buffalo Bandits (4-2) for the third and final meeting of the 25th Anniversary season. Currently 0-2 against the Bandits, the Wings look to bounce back from a 16-7 loss to the Bandits this past Saturday. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from the HSBC Arena. The game will be broadcast live on the Comcast Network.

The Wings-Bandits rivalry has lived up its reputation as being one of the most physical in the National Lacrosse League. Fights have broken out in each of the two meetings and the clubs have racked up almost 90 penalty minutes. Wings defender Ryan McFadyen squared off with Buffalo's Steve Priolo in the January 15 meeting while Paul Dawson dropped Buffalo's Travis Irving in the fourth quarter of last Saturday's match up. The Wings are 2-1 on the road this year. About the Bandits: The Bandits (4-2) are currently tied for second in the NLL Eastern Division. Buffalo is eighth in the league on the power play, converting on 28.6% percent of its chances, and first on penalty kills at 75.0%. The Bandits are 2-0 this season at home.

The Bandits, hoping to stay perfect this season both at home and against Philadelphia, are led by veteran forward John Tavares, who recorded his 700th NLL goal in a 5-point performance against the Wings last Saturday. Mark Steenhuis and Tracey Kelusky follow closely behind with 24 points and 21 points, respectively.

About the Wings: The Wings, (3-4) are fifth in the NLL Eastern Division. Philadelphia is sixth in the league on the power play, converting on 39.0% of its chances, and eighth on the penalty kill, successfully defending 59.5% of its opponent's opportunities. The Wings are 2-1 at home this season.

Athan Iannucci leads the Wings with 15 goals and 17 assists for a total of 32 points this season. He has scored at least five points in each of his last four games. Goalie Brandon Miller boasts the second best save percentage in the league at 80.6% and was recently named starting goaltender for the 2011 Eastern Division All-Star Team. Transition player Max Seibald will join Miller as part of the Eastern All-Stars at the Turning Stone Casino Arena in Verona, New York on Saturday, February 27, 2011

We didn't pull away until the fourth quarter last week so we want to keep our guys focused and realize that our next game is the most important." On Travis Irving's fight with Paul Dawson "Irving is fine; he had all his tests Tuesday and seems to be ok. He did get a couple stitches in the chin, but I think he will look back at this as a learning experience."

The Wings are back in action at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, February 26 against the Toronto Rock at 8 p.m.
