Washington Stealth News Release

Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth has announced a trade today that will send defenseman Tyler Codron to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for defenseman Ian Hawsbee. Hawksbee returns to the Stealth, where he spent his first two NLL seasons in 2006 and 2007.

Hawksbee, a six-foot, 200-pound, left-handed defenseman, is in his sixth NLL season. He played the last four seasons for the Edmonton Rush. In seven games with the Rush in 2011, he has three assists and 38 loose balls.

"We feel Ian is a terrific defender and we are very excited to welcome him to our organization," said Stealth General Manager Doug Locker. "He is a top defender, is great on loose balls and is one of the best team guys around. We are looking forward to having him here this weekend."

Hawksbee has missed just one game in his NLL career, playing in 86 regular season and four postseason games. Known around the league to have a knack for loose balls, the Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario-native has collected 664 career loose balls, including four straight seasons with at least 123. He also has 48 career points (10g, 38a).

In exchange for Hawksbee, the Stealth send fifth-year defenseman Tyler Codron to the Rush. Codron has appeared in all eight games for the Stealth this season, amassing nine loose balls. Codron was acquired along with Lewis Ratcliff and Joel Dalgarno by the Stealth prior to the 2010 season in a trade that sent Colin Doyle to the Toronto Rock. After recovering from a knee injury, Codron appeared in just one regular season and two playoff games for the Stealth a year ago.

"Tyler Codron is a very good lacrosse player and a class act," said Locker. "We are grateful for everything he gave to our team during his time here and we wish him all the best in the future."

Hawksbee will join the Stealth this weekend for its game against the Colorado Mammoth at the Comcast Arena at Everett. The game is scheduled to begin at 8pm PST. Tickets for the game start at just $13 and can be purchased by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
